Core Beliefs

These are the Essentials We Believe

About God - God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1, 26-27; Genesis 3:22; Psalms 90:2; Matthew 28:19

About Jesus Christ - Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5; John 14:10-31; Romans 1:4

About the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily. II Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; Ephesians 5:18; John 14:17

About the Bible - The Bible is God's word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because God inspires it, it is the truth without error. The Bible was not written only to educate us, but to change our lives. Psalms 119:19; II Timothy 3:16

About people - People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God. This attitude, called sin, separates people from God and causes many problems in life. Genesis 1:27; Psalms 8:3-6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2

About eternity - People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18; Revelation 20:15
Our Tenets of Faith are
The Inspired Scriptures - The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and infallible revelation of God to man and the authority of faith and conduct. This assembly accepts the Bible as the revealed will of God, as the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity of our statements of faith.

The One True God - The one true God has revealed Himself as the "I Am," the Creator and Redeemer of mankind.

The Deity of Jesus - The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God.

The Fall of Man - Man was created good and upright; however, man voluntarily transgressed and fell, and thereby, is spiritually dead and away from God.

The Salvation of Man - Man's only hope is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by faith through grace and demonstrated in repentance.

Ordinances of the Church - Water Baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost and by full immersion; and Holy Communion (The Lord's Supper), consisting of the Body and Blood, represented in the bread and the fruit of the vine.

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit - According to Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:4, with one of the signs being speaking in other tongues, along with various other gifts.

Sanctification - The act of separation from that which is evil and dedication unto God.
The Church and Its Mission - The Church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to carry out the Great Commission.

The Ministry - A divinely called and scripturally ordained minister has been provided by God to lead the church in evangelization, worship, building the body, and general leadership of the church.

Divine Healing - Is provided for today by the Scriptures and included in the atonement for our sins.

The Blessed Hope and Millennial Reign - The resurrection of the just is the blessed hope of the Body of Christ. The Second Coming of Christ includes the rapture and a return to earth by Christ with His saints for a thousand-year reign.

The Final Judgment - There will be a final judgment at which all men will be judged.
The New Heaven and Earth - All of God's children will reign forever in a new heaven and a new earth.

Tuesdays In "Other" Words - About

In "Other" Words
________________________________

What is "IOW" all about?

In "Other" Words originated with CWO - Christian Women Online. The original purpose and beliefs remain the same: to unite women of faith, regardless of our differing ages, our roles as women, or the signs that mark our church doors.

One of the best ways to do this is to encourage each other in faith, by our spoken and written words. In "other" words, we think it's time that we heard from you.

In order to do that, In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 will post the host's quote of choice on this page every Friday in hopes that it will inspire you to jot down your thoughts. On each Tuesday following, a post written by the host will be posted on her blog along with links to the other Christian women online who are joining in with a post on their blog. Participants are welcome to post those links on their site as well, if they so wish. Blog entries can range from inspirational to light and humorous, however the women whose links that we post must meet with our guidelines as outlined below. *

Our quotes will range from the divine to the quirky--what you do with them is up to you.

__________________________

* Guidelines - This is open to Christian women bloggers who are in agreement with our statement of faith. We will not accept links to posts that are of a controversial nature or that open up doors to debate. Nor will we accept links to blogs that lean toward controversy, slander or debate in general.

We ask that if you would like to host Tuesdays, In "Other" Words on your blog that you would send an email to amy (at) inpursuitofproverbs31 (dot) com. We would prefer if only those who have been actively participating for at least two consecutive weeks inquire.

All bloggers must insert the following code into their post, which is an image that links us back here (the image is shown at at the top of this page).

*Copy and paste this code into your post on Tuesday

Don't be shy--we hope to see your URL listed here next Tuesday!
