In Pursuit Of Proverbs 31 Blog Carnival

Beginning in November, In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 will be hosting its very own blog carnival! We would love for you to participate. Here are the specs:

All blog entries must equip and encourage Christian women in their walk with Christ. Anything along those lines will fall in place with scriptures in Proverbs 31. Other scriptures are welcome within the post. Tell us about your successes, your trials, your revelations, concerning the Proverbs 31 Woman. It can be about the hubby, the kids, cooking, cleaning, earning money, homeschooling, the possibilities are endless. We have so much to learn from each other! All writing must be uplifting, encouraging, and from a biblical view point. We ask that you display the In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Blog Carnival button on your site or as a post to link your readers to the other participants in the carnival. Entries can be previous posts but please only submit a particular post once. We reserve the right to omit any post that does not meet these guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where did the name In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 come from?
I have always believed that it should be our life’s quest as women to pursue the things of Proverbs 31. Why? Because the only way to obtain any of them is to be completely submitted to and put Jesus first! The pursuit of Proverbs 31 is the pursuit of Jesus Christ.

2. How long ago did you start blogging and why did you begin?
When I began homeschooling I did a google search for Konos and found Sprittibee’s blog. I read it through and through and became hooked. After reading it for several months I started my own blog. That was in February of 2006.

3. How did you become a devotional writer for CWO and what can I do to become one?
To be a writer for CWO magazine here are the guidelines: Writers Guidelines

I became a writer for The Internet Café after the owner, Darlene Schacht emailed me and offered me the opportunity. I had previously won a writer’s contest sponsored by CWO and the prize was a fabulous iPod. Zip down the road a year or so later and I am now a co-owner of the site. Our writer's guidelines are here: Guidelines. We are always excited to see women flowing in their gift of writing and we would love to consider you work. Submit it to:

amy@internetcafedevotions.com or
lori@Internetcafedevotions.com

I also suggest participating in Tuesdays: In “other” Words and leaving comments on The Internet Café site often. This will prompt others to click on your link and go to your blog. From there, we can read your fabulous work!

4. Can you post my prayer request?
I will most certainly pray for your needs if you request it however, I recommend that all prayer requests go to The Prayer Room hosted by CWO Magazine. My blog only gets about 100 hits a day right now whereas The Prayer Room gets significantly more. If you prefer to have your prayer request posted here then contact me. I will also be happy to forward a request to The Prayer Room for you.

5. What church do you go to?
I attend Healing Place Church. I have been there for more than three years now and absolutely love it! It is a church that is all about the people and spreading the love of Christ. After 10 years of being in the wrong house, I am finally home!

For specifics on what I believe: beliefs

6. Will you ever do a Proverbs 31 bible study?
Yes! In fact, I am working on it right now. Please subscribe to my blog to make sure you are one of the first to know when it is posted!

7. What homeschool curriculum do you use?
I posted about this here. Check it out.

8. Did you design your own blog?
Yes, I did. Check out my site: Split Decisionz for tips and free templates as well as custom design prices.

9. Why do you change your blog so much?
I love to create and design and besides, I get tired of looking at the same thing everyday! ;o)

10. Do you mind if I just lurk?
Of course not, I would love for you to leave a comment so that I can visit you too but if you don’t then that is fine. I don’t mind at all.

11. Can I add you to my sidebar?

Certainly and thank you! If you do add me to your sidebar then please let me know and I will add you to mine! In fact, you can add this to your blog:

12. Why do you have ads on your blog?
I am very picky about what companies endorse me and I have high standards. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to make some spare change while spending time on my blog.

13. How do you find things to blog about?
Quite a while back while I was scrapbooking, I began to ponder over what type of things would I want to pass on to my daughter (I do intend to have a daughter one day even if I have to adopt). Or even to my daughters in law for that matter. This way I could give them a book of advice without ever butting in! ;o) So I began to write down topics:

1. Kitchen Efficiency
2. Keeping clothes clean
3. where to get great deals and how to sell online
4. homeschooling stuff
5. make-up tips
6. getting out of debt
7. overcoming trials
8. recipes
9. family history (grandma, grandpas, etc)
10. my planner, etc

My list was 3 pages long and I have only done about 10 of them. The rest of my blog is full of whatever I think of that day!

So anyways, when I discovered blogging this was the first thing I thought of. It is a virtual scrapbook that I can pass on with all my tips tricks and anything else I can think of. Plus, I get input from all of you ladies in comments which makes it even more special.I also put special memories with pictures in there just to have that as well.... vacations, trips, etc.

14. What advice do you have for a beginning blogger?
Don’t get overwhelmed and don’t try to be another blogger. Be true to yourself.

Do you have a question for me? Submit it here: Email Me, and I'll be happy to answer it for you!

I Hope You Find What You Are Looking For!

About Amy

Hi! I'm Amy. The fun and spunky girl who runs this blog. I am a follower of Christ and I am also a 30-something-years young mother of 3 rough little boys and recently married (September 8, 2007) to my best friend, Ryan, the most wonderful man in the world! After a divorce from my boys' father, I became a single, homeschool mom. I worked from home to support myself and my children. God brought us through that season of life and now my income goes towards our Total Money Makeover. We went through a series of events in a very short period of time (read: 6 weeks) that caused us to have to charge more than we ever intended (new washer & dryer because the others broke, therapy, equipment, and glasses for Gevan, new computer, home repairs, on and on and on). We are knocking the debts out one by one with Dave's wise counsel and the money I make at my at-home business: Split Decisionz. Thank you!

The purpose of this blog is to show women the Proverbs 31 Woman in a whole new light... the light of Christ that is. So many times I have heard women become down and depressed over their assumptions that they can never measure up and that the Proverbs 31 Woman is something they could never attain. I know that this is not what God had in mind when He willed those verses into the bible.

On this blog we'll discuss anything and everything that has to do with a woman of God (yes, I know that doesn't narrow it down much!). Marriage, kids, home management, spirituality, fashion, recipes, homeschooling, on and on and on... I write about it all. Won't you join me in overcoming the hurdle that the world has put in our way? I have a complete bible study in the works to help us overcome our battles with this Proverbs 31 Woman. Join my mailing list if you want to be one of the first to know when it is posted.

Over at Split Decisionz, I design graphics and blogs and give free tutorials and templates for others to use on their blogs. I also enjoy writing as a ministry to other women. I am co-owner and a devotional writer for CWO's Internet Cafe and I am the co-editor and a contributlor to Heart of the Matter Online. Scrapbooking, reading, cooking, traveling and shopping for great deals also rank high on my list of "likes".

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a bit better. I hope to be able to serve you in the future!

Welcome to In Pursuit of Proverbs 31!

Meet the gang...

Ryan

Ryan is a computer guy, or uh... IT guy? Or um, all around electronics and software fixer guy. Yeah, that's it! He works for the IT dept at a local hospital and he owns his own computer repair business. I am one blessed woman. This man is amazing. He is a man of God, has a servant's heart and he loves me and my boys more than I ever dreamed possible. He is definitely a God send!

Amy

How I Live...
I have the peace of God. I have my man. I have my kids. I have my family and friends. I have it all. I have also realized that God is God and we are not. Sometimes we just have to trust Him to handle things in our lives. He is faithful. I want to be full of the joy I get when I know I've done the right thing. I want to help others and see smiles on their faces. I want to make a difference in the world and I know that with God I can. I love and accept people as they are. It is our uniqueness that makes us so special in God's eyes. After all, He made us that way. I want to make sure I use all the potential He has given me to pursue the desires He placed within me. I never want to have a single day of regret. Our time here is too short..... I'm going for it!!

Gevan

Gevan (11) is my oldest. He is just like me and it makes me crazy! :o) He is determined to be a stuntman, doctor, soldier, teacher, spy, actor, singer, and the list goes on and on and on. He must know something about everything. He is determined, smart, and bullheaded. On second thought no, he doesn’t sound just like me! OK maybe the smart part. Gevan has a form of dwarfism called Cartilage-Hair Hypoplasia. He is also blind in one eye (20/800 vision). He is a Kinesthetic Learner and a challenge to teach. He wants to learn on his own.

Jacob

Jacob (9) wants to be an artist. My melancholy child is a natural with paint mediums and chalks. He can also play just about any instrument he gets his hands on. He just cries tears of joy, sadness, confusion, or whatever he feels at that moment while doing it. He is a focused child. He loves school. Teaching him is a complete and utter joy. I love seeing his face when he gets it. He is my biggest reader and he is a visual learner who remembers almost everything he reads.

Brennan

Brennan (7) doesn't care what he is when he grows up. He just wants it to be fun or else he says that he is just going to live with us until he gets a kid then he said he'll move in with them! How is that for figuring things out? Can you say 100% sanguine personality? He loves to climb and his most favorite food in the entire world is bananas. So of course, his nickname is.... Monkey! He loves critters of any kind and brings me wild flowers often (including poison ivy). Although it takes armed guards to keep him sitting down, Brennan learns with little effort. He is like a sponge absorbing everything. His learning style is auditory.
