It's funny but as a homeschooling mom I ofter hear the question,
"Aren't you concerned that your kids won't grow to be sociable?"
Gee Whiz. I guess they will miss out on developing many social skills since they aren't enrolled in public school. Hi Amy!
I even heard a DJ yesterday, bring up the old socialization thing. I'm 48 now and my kids are 23 and 25. My son homeschooled for Kindergarten through 1st, then again for a few years later in grade school because he had bone cancer and was going through too much to go to school.
My daughter homeschooled from KG to 3rd then went to public school for two years. She then home-schooled all the way through to college. She was able to do "fast track", entering college without her high school diploma because she tested so high. She graduated with her AA when she was still 16. And that was without any help from her Dad or me, because we were mired down in caring for our son.
My daughter has gone on to be hugely successful in business, my son is finishing up his AA and going on to get his BA in Teaching along with a certificate as a Sign Language Interpretor.
I think it's hilarious when people bring up the socialization thing. My kids are quite normal, very sucessful and full of fun. Everyone loves them and they get along really well with others. They're both very spiritually minded and so are "different", in a good way.
Cudo's to you for working so hard with your kids.
Katie
